Photography I: The Essentials

Understanding the basic principles of photography will help you take better pictures and make it more fun! If you are new to photography or want to move past shooting in automatic mode to gain more control of your pictures, this class is for you. Topics will cover the foundations of photography including aperture, shutter speed, ISO, lenses, depth of field and more! You will also learn how to use composition, light, color, and tonality to create more dynamic images. This class will include hands-on shooting opportunities, assignments to inspire you to improve your new skills, analysis and critique by PPAC’s knowledgeable instructors and lectures on historical and contemporary artwork. This class is the first step in creating a solid foundation in the medium and taking your images to the next level.

You may register for a class up until the start of the class if the class has enough students for it to run. A determination will be made six days before the start of the class if there is a sufficient amount of students for the class to run (a minimum of three students). If a class is under-enrolled six days before the start of that class the class will be canceled. Students will be notified by email and the registration will be closed. To ensure a class has enough students for it to run please register early.
You may cancel up to seven days in advance to receive a refund, after that time no refunds or credits will be issued, no exceptions. PPAC will not provide refunds for classes, workshops, or tutorials missed as a result of students’ illness, emergencies, absence or any other events beyond PPAC’s control.
